When watching his movies on television, Saira Banu claims she gets up and leaves the room. She first fell in love with Dilip Kumar when she was 12 years old

On the first anniversary of her late spouse Dilip Kumar’s passing, Saira Banu paid tribute to him. A marriage that lasted almost 60 years came to an end when the iconic singer passed away last year at the age of 98.

Saira Banu described how she fell in love with the celebrity when she was 12 years old and felt fortunate to have “jumped the huge queue of women who were dreaming to be Mrs. Dilip Kumar.” She claimed that despite her best efforts to “move on,” she encounters individuals who remember him every day.

She commented, “This has been the hardest year of my life. “My world is meaningless and empty without Dilip Saab. Only this reality is something I don’t want to accept. There hasn’t been a day when I haven’t run upon someone who remembers him.

She claimed that while she was able to move on with the passage of her grandmother, mother, and brother, she is still struggling to accept the loss of her spouse. “I have to live with the knowledge that I should consider myself very fortunate that I had my Yousuf saab with me for 56 years, from the time I wake up, seeing the empty space beside me in the bed we shared for over five and a half decades, until night falls,” she continued, admitting that she leaves the room whenever she notices someone in her staff watching one of Dilip Kumar’s films on the television.

Saira Banu has always been outspoken about her love for Dilip Kumar and would regularly give updates on his health in the years leading up to his passing. She grieved in seclusion for a while after his passing and has subsequently made only sporadic public appearances.
