Uttarakhand suffers the effects of nature; the Yamunotri highway is closed because of rock erosion

Dehradun: Since Friday night, snowfall has lashed the higher altitudes of Yamunotri and Gangotri. The mountains are cloudy in several areas. On the other side, landslides caused by late-night rain near Khaneda have forced the closure of the Yamunotri highway. Due to rock erosion near Khanera, the Yamunotri highway was closed on Saturday. Since early in the morning, the highway’s traffic has been chaotic. Waiting for the opening of the highway are pilgrims travelling to and from Yamunotri Dham. The NH’s equipment is working to open the highway.

According to the National Route, pilgrims will be able to travel on the highway soon. The Yamuna Ghati region has been seeing intermittent rain since late last night. Devendra Patwal, the district disaster management officer, stated that the work to open the roadway is ongoing.

On the other hand, a lightning strike near Changsil Bugyal in the Mori block killed 36 sheep and goats. The sheep and goats of the residents of the Wild Life Centurion area’s inner hamlet are currently in the Bugyal region of Chugan. The inner village’s pradhan, Rajiv Kunwar, told the local government about it. A group from the revenue departments has been despatched to the area by the local administration. According to Tahsildar Chaman Singh, the Revenue Sub Inspector has been dispatched to the area.
