Today is the release of Janhit Mein Jaari in theatres. Nushrratt Bharuchha plays the role of a condom salesman in the film. The film’s setting in a tiny town and the presence of a woman selling condoms is a unique concept, and the audience was excited to see it. Nushrratt, on the other hand, had to deal with trolls almost immediately after the film’s promotion began. The actress, however, did not sit idly by and retaliated with a film depicting the trolls’ vile behaviour.

Nushrratt explained why she made this decision while speaking with News18. “It’s the first time it has affected me,” Nushrratt said regarding the trolling this time. It’s the first time I’ve read the comments on my blog article. Main bohot bindaas rehti hoon (I’m always really cool), and I’ve never given a damn what other people think or say. I continue to do what needs to be done. I still dress the way I want to dress and post the way I want to post. But kuch zyada hi tha ispe kuch zyada hi tha ispe kuch zyada (there was too much negativity on this one). Because that was also the first time I read the comments, it resonated with me.”

“Trolls are usually intended towards me,” she continued. I’m okay, and I’m strong enough to handle it. However, the comments this time had a significant impact on the people in my immediate vicinity, particularly my friends and family. That’s not acceptable. If you want to say it to me, that’s fine, but don’t go after my people – that’s not acceptable. It became imperative to inform them that this is not acceptable behaviour. This is not acceptable to me, and it is unacceptable to all women. You can’t say stuff like that! Someone needs to keep them in line. If we don’t speak up, they’ll write more, do something else, and gain more confidence (aur kuch likh denge, aur kuch kar denge, aur himmat aa jayegi). So I prepared a video of whatever was on my mind and posted it. My people (in this case, the film’s crew) backed me up. And that was the case.”

“It’s ludicrous,” Anud Singh Dhaka, who plays opposite Nushrratt in the film, added. She is well-liked by a large number of people. And I’m starting to get a sense of it, reading things that are completely unrelated and horrifying. People will sometimes just troll you for no apparent reason.”

Well, congrats to Nushrratt for standing up and taking the risk!
