At the BJP’s National Executive meeting, Union Home Minister and senior leader Amit Shah enthused leaders and workers from the region in attendance by declaring that the party had a “permanent address” in the Northeast.

In an effort to increase its presence in southern India, the BJP National Executive met in Hyderabad, Telangana, but the party also placed equal focus on winning over voters in the Northeast. All of the Northeast’s BJP Chief Ministers, from Himanta Biswa Sharma to Pema Khandu, were present in the conclave.

Amit Shah claimed that by 2024—the year of the following Lok Sabha elections—all of the problems in the Northeast area would be resolved in his speech at the conference on political resolution.

The Narendra Modi administration at the Center took a significant step in March this year when it completely and partially repealed the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in 23 districts and one district in Assam, as well as 15 police station areas in six districts of Manipur and seven districts of Nagaland.

In addition, a historic deal to settle the 50-year-old border dispute between Assam and Meghalaya was reached in New Delhi.

The son-in-law of Manipur’s chief minister, N Biren Singh, and BJP MLA Rajkumar Imo Singh, who was speaking to News18 about Amit Shah’s speech, said: “In the past, it was challenging to reach out to central politicians. We had to grovel. But today, everything has changed significantly. Everything is simplified in the BJP. We are pleased with the manner the Northeast was highlighted at the BJP National Executive Committee meeting.

Pema Khandu, the chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh, echoed similar thoughts when she told News18 that the Northeast was given a lot of attention during the recent BJP National Executive meeting in Hyderabad. For us, it’s a proud occasion.

“In the last eight years, the Northeast has undergone a great deal of change, from growth to connectivity to jobs to sports to the suppression of insurgency. The Northeast has benefited more from these eight years overall than it did from the years following Independence. The BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have earned the complete trust of the people of the Northeast, he continued.

According to sources, the party intends to push for the most development projects possible while increasing political activity in the area.

The party is working nonstop to get ready for the half-time test on the way to General Elections the next year, which will take place in Tripura, Meghalaya, and Nagaland. There are 26 Lok Sabha seats allocated to states in the Northeast, and according to insiders, the saffron party is aiming for a 100 percent strike rate.
