Suniel Shetty’s response to Akshay Kumar’s query, “phir thodi Hera Pheri kar le,” suggests a long-awaited sequel

When asking Suniel Shetty if he was interested in doing some “hera pheri” on his birthday, Akshay Kumar dropped a hint about the eagerly anticipated Hera Pheri sequel. In the manner of their other co-star Paresh Rawal, who portrayed Baburao in Hera Pheri, Suniel wished Akshay a happy 55th birthday.

Suniel Shetty wished Akshay Kumar a happy birthday on his Instagram Stories by posting a photo of the two of them together when they were younger and writing, “Hey Rajuuuu! Happy birthday re baba. Have a great one. @akshaykumar have a great one.” Akshay replied, “Shyam bhai, thank you for the wishes. In what ways does hera pheri work? along with a laughing and loving emoji.

The Priyadarshan-directed 2000 comedy Hera Pheri, which also starred Tabu, Asrani, Om Puri, and Kulbhushan Kharbanda, is regarded as one of the best comedies in Bollywood and has accrued cult status over time. The trio of Akshay as Raju, Suniel as Shyam, and Paresh as Baburao returned for the 2006 sequel Phir Hera Pheri, which also welcomed new cast members

The movie has its own devoted fanbase and is the source of several well-known memes created over its most famous dialogues, especially those of Paresh Rawal. Since several years, there have been rumours that the film has been renewed for the third instalment in the Hera Pheri franchise, but a confirmation is still awaited.

After Bachchhan Paandey, Samrat Prithviraj, and Raksha Bandhan, Akshay Kumar’s fourth release of the year, Cuttputlli, a murder mystery in which the actor played a cop, was recently released. However, none of the three theatrical releases could bring in the anticipated box office receipts. Akshay has one more release this year around Diwali, titled Ram Setu.
