Siddhanth Kapoor, brother of Bollywood actress Shraddha Kapoor, was granted bail late Monday after being arrested in Bengaluru for alleged drug consumption. According to authorities, the other four people arrested have also been released on bond. According to the news agency ANI, Bheema Shankar Gulled, Deputy Commissioner of Police for East Bengaluru, Siddhanth Kapoor and the four others would have to appear before the police as and when they are summoned.
Bengaluru Police nabbed Siddhanth on Sunday night for reportedly ingesting narcotics at a party in the city. Siddhanth was allegedly partying at a hotel on MG Road when police raided the establishment after receiving a tip.
“Siddhanth Kapoor’s medical records reveal that he took medications. We’ve already taken him into custody and are following protocol. We’re going to put him in judicial custody “Mr. Gulled had stated previously.
Meanwhile, actor Shakti Kapoor, Siddhanth’s father, was taken aback. “I am not aware of anything,” the veteran actor told News18.com when contacted shortly after the report surfaced. I’ve just awoken from a deep slumber, and my phone has begun to ring incessantly. He hasn’t been arrested, but the cops have detained him for consumption (of drugs). There was no evidence of possession, in my opinion. I have all of the material that is being released in the news, and I am deeply disturbed by it.”
Shraddha Kapoor was asked by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in 2020 to give a statement in connection with the death of film actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Her statement regarding the drug case relating to Rajput’s death, as well as the Bollywood-drugs nexus, was recorded by the NCB investigation team.
Shraddha is presently working in Spain for Luv Ranjan’s next film with Ranbir Kapoor. Siddhanth most recently appeared in Rumi Jafery’s Chehre, in which he played Joe Cost, an ex-convict convicted of murder.
