Another instance of a lady being beaten and harassed has come to light. The violence against women is getting worse every day. In this specific incidence, a woman has allegedly been brutally beaten by her husband and in-laws in Kolaras village of Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh over a property dispute. Reports state that the wife was saved by her 3-year-old son.

According to the information, the victim, Savita Kevat, a resident of Haripur village in Kolaras, had obtained financial assistance from her parents to purchase a plot. Savita claimed that although she had paid the plot’s payments by working as a labourer, she was under pressure from her husband and her in-laws to have the plot registered in his name at the time of registration. Savita went on to say that if the plot were registered in her husband’s name, he would sell it and she would not be able to realise her dream of providing for their children’s education. This sparked a fight between them. Her half-nakedness and savage beating were caused by her husband and his parents.

The victim went to the police station soon after the occurrence and filed a complaint against the suspect. Police are currently investigating the situation and questioning her spouse and family members.

This is the second time in a week that a woman has been subjected to some form of torture. A similar event occurred earlier in the MP’s district of Dewas, where a married tribal woman was assaulted, stripped naked, and forced to cross the village while pulling her husband because she was reportedly having an affair. The native woman was also required to wear a shoe garland.
