In Indore, voting has already started at 7 am for the election of the municipal mayor and council members for 85 wards on July 6. More than 18.35 lakh people are registered to vote at 2,250 polling places in the city. About 9.36 lakh men and 8.99 lakh women are registered to vote. The polling schedule is set to run till 5 p.m.
It should be noted that approximately 20,000 government workers participated in the voting process, along with 5,000 police and home guard constables. However, during the voting process, reports of disputes in numerous neighbourhoods have also been heard. In ward number 28 Shivshakti Nagar of the LIG area of Indore city, the police constable has argued with the locals.
Residents of the neighbourhood need to talk about how we were standing in front of our house when police constable Praveen Singh arrived and began shooing us away and using profane language, which started degrading the neighborhood’s atmosphere. The polling station is close to where the dispute occurred. The TI and other police squads arrived shortly after the altercation and took the offending cop away.
