NEW DELHI: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will hold a press conference today at 12.30 p.m. at the National Media Centre in the national capital.
The motive for speaking at the press conference, however, remains unknown. “Raksha Mantri Shri @rajnathsingh will conduct a media conference at National Media Centre, New Delhi at 12.30 PM today,” the Defence Ministry tweeted.
On Monday, Singh called for greater coordination between the civil administration and the Armed Forces in order to strengthen national security and meet future challenges provided by the ever-changing global landscape.
He also spoke to participants at the 28th Joint Civil-Military Training Programme at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie, Uttarakhand, on Monday. Various non-military components have been added to the more basic feature of protection from military threats, he said, broadening the concept of national security.
Rajnath Singh has mentioned the situation between Russia and Ukraine, as well as other similar situations, as evidence that the world is confronting challenges that go beyond traditional warfare.
“Peace and conflict have become a continuum rather than two different realms. Even when the weather is calm, war rages on several fronts. A full-fledged conflict is as destructive to a nation as it is to its adversaries. As a result, in recent decades, full-fledged battles have been avoided. They’ve been replaced by proxies and non-combat warfare. Supply chains, information, energy, trade systems, and banking systems, among other things, are being militarised and may one day be used against us. People must work together to address this broader spectrum of security challenges.” To address these issues, he emphasised the significance of a “whole-of-government” and “whole-of-nation” approach.
