Mayawati, the leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, has slammed the Modi government at the Centre for the money deposited by the country’s dhannaseths in Switzerland Bank. “The news of Indian capitalists and dhannaseths deposited in Swiss banks reaching a record 14-year high of 3.83 billion francs is in the news,” Mayawati tweeted on Friday from her official Twitter handle, “on which the people of the country, who are facing an unprecedented crisis of poverty, inflation, and unemployment, etc., do not understand how to be happy?”

The money of Indians in Swiss banks has increased dramatically in comparison to previous years, according to yearly figures issued by Switzerland’s central bank. Previously, Indians had 2.55 billion Swiss francs in Swiss banks at the end of 2020.
According to annual data, Indian clients owed Swiss banks a total of 383.19 crore Swiss francs by the end of 2021. Customers’ deposits account for 60.20 crore francs of this total. Other banks hold 122.5 billion Swiss francs, while trusts and other entities hold 30 million francs.
