On Monday, Sarbjit Singh’s sister Dalbir Kaur received an emotional tribute from Randeep Hooda in honour of her untimely passing. Randeep praised Dalbir’s “fighter, innocent, and bright” character. She battled against a system, a nation, its citizens, and herself in an effort to save her cherished brother Sarbjit. I was incredibly lucky to have her love, blessings, and Rakhi, who will never be forgotten in this life, he added. The actor also recalled the time Dalbir stayed with him while his movie was being filmed in Punjab.

“To think that Dalbir Kaur ji would leave us so soon was beyond the realm of possibility. Dedicated to whatever she touched, a fighter with a childlike innocence. She struggled against a system, a nation, its citizens, and herself in an effort to save her cherished brother Sarbjit. I was incredibly lucky to have her love, blessings, and never-to-be-missed Rakhi throughout my lifetime. Ironically, our last encounter took place while I was filming in the Punjabi fields where we had established an Indo-Pak boundary. She didn’t care that it was a chilly and cloudy late November night. She expressed her happiness at our shared border location. She would frequently conclude most conversations with “Khush reh, jug jug jeeye.” I do feel incredibly fortunate. Dalbir ji, there wasn’t enough time. I will always treasure your love and blessings because I adore you and miss you. Om Shanti, it said on the note.

Throughout the Sarbjit filming, a romance between Randeep Hooda and Dalbir Kaur developed. Randeep played Sarbjit Singh in the movie, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan played Dalbir. The focus of the biopic was Dalbir’s struggle to get justice served for her brother Sarabjit. He was found guilty of terrorism and espionage and given the death penalty by a Pakistani court.

According to rumours, Dalbir asked Randeep to conduct her final rituals when she passes away because she sees Sarabjit in him. On Sunday, the actor honoured his word and went to Dalbir’s burial.
