For the first time since the Shiv Sena uprising, MVA confronts Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis in person

Shiv Sena, NCP, and Congress, partners of Maha Vikas Aghadi, attacked Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, his deputy Devendra Fadnavis, newly-elected Speaker Rahul Narwekar, and other BJP and dissident Shiv Sena MLAs on Sunday at the Vidhan Bhavan even as they had been humiliated during the Speaker’s election.

Ajit Pawar, leader of the NCP, congratulated Narwekar on his election as Speaker and noted that Narwekar had ties to Aaditya Thackeray’s Shiv Sena organisation. He and I were close in the NCP. He is now close with Devendra.

Pawar warned Chief Minister Eknath Shinde that he needed to get along with Narwekar because “else one cannot say what will happen to you.” The NCP leader continued by saying that many BJP leaders took years to accomplish what Narwekar had accomplished in three years.

Pawar addressed Shinde, saying, “He should have come and told me… as well as Uddhav Thackeray, if I could have and appointing him as CM would not have been problematic.

BJP leader Sudhir Mungantiwar responded to this by saying, “Over the next few months, if you (Pawar) also acquire certain desires, you can let us know quietly and we will consider it.”

Shiv Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray poked fun at Fadnavis by saying, “If Fadnavis had accepted Sena’s power sharing formula (after 2019 state elections), then Shinde would have become the CM two and a half years ago and the position would have been reversed (the BJP would have received the CM’s post).”
He also recalled Narwekar, who had instructed him in law.

Ajit Pawar, criticising the BJP, claimed that several BJP leaders had been treated unfairly. Many of the people seated in the front row, including Ganesh Naik, Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, and Babanrao Pachpute, had belonged to other political parties before joining the BJP. Deepak Kesarkar, a former NCP member and current Shinde faction spokesperson, is visible. I can say that everything he learned at NCP did not go to waste because I can see that he has developed into a strong spokesman.

“Many BJP members are dissatisfied that Devendra Fadnavis was appointed deputy chief minister. Girish Mahajan, a BJP leader, seemed to be in a bad mood. He has taken off his turban, which can be used to dry his tears, the man continued.

Pawar questioned Chandrakant Patil, the state’s BJP leader, on his certainty of receiving a ministerial position at a time when the Shinde faction might be considering numerous posts.

Balasaheb Thorat, the leader of the Congress Legislative Party, also made fun of Narvekar by saying, “You have gone to all parties, why did you leave us?”

Sunil Prabhu, the main whip for the Shiv Sena, challenged both Fadnavis and Narwekar. Destiny can alter at any time. We thought Fadnavis would win this time, but instead he was elected deputy chief minister. We feel awful for him. Although you are a law graduate, we had anticipated that you would choose the position of Speaker instead.
