Best Hindi web series so far in 2022: Panchayat 2, Gullak 3, and Rocket Boys are in the lead

Viewers are able to separate the wheat from the chaff because to the accessibility of content from all over the world provided by the OTT space. Writers, actors, and directors have been motivated to push the envelope and put their best foot forward by the OTT world and the competition found there. While many of the shows fell short of their goals, some stood out and earned a lot of support from the audience. Here is a list of the top six thus far in 2022. We are six months into the year.

Space Boys

This SonyLIV series demonstrates that science need not be serious or tedious. Based on the lives of Homi J. Bhabha and Vikram Sarabhai, respectively, the Nikkhil Advani production features outstanding performances by Jim Sarbh and Ishwak Singh of Pataal Lok fame. It is dramatic, adheres to the historical timetable, and respects the cultural background of Bhabha and Sarabhai. Dr. Bhabha was the creator of atomic energy, and Dr. Sarabhai Baba was the father of space research, but their lives were much more than that, according to Nikkhil Advani, who was speaking about the series. Therefore, when you watch Rocket Boys, you will have a full experience of the years 1942ā€“1962. It’s not just about the science; it’s also about the people, the culture, the art of the day, and how these two individuals contributed to it.

2 Panchayat

In addition, 2022 was a year where drama and romance received the same acclaim as crime/thrillers. The creators of Panchayat 2 were under pressure to outperform its critically lauded first season. However, the second season managed to pleasantly surprise us. Panchayat 2, which starred Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta, and Raghubir Yadav in the key roles, stayed true to its roots and simplicity while telling an engaging tale. This season served as even more evidence of how a terrific story and solid cast can elevate a series or movie to new heights. Director of Panchayat 2 Deepak Kumar Mishra discussed the series’ success in an interview with The simplicity, I suppose. The violence in the hinterland is a topic covered in every other online programme. People viewed themselves as the characters in Panchayat. I believe the relatability and simplicity were the key ingredients,” he remarked.

3 Gullak

Gullak 3, which is currently streaming on SonyLIV, is a prime illustration of how the world of OTT demonstrated that merely a star or huge name could not drive the show. A sneak-peek into every middle-class family that discovers how to live and find happiness in the little things, the series stars Jameel Khan as Santosh Mishra, Geetanjali Kulkarni as Shanti Mishra, Vaibhav Raj Gupta as Annu Mishra, and Harsh Mayar as Aman Mishra. Gullak 3 is intriguing because it features a variety of realistic characters and dreams that make you smile and even cry. The cast and writer Durgesh Singh deserve praise for this endearing series.

Crime-thrillers are nothing new in the world of OTT, but Mai stands out because of the gaze. Sakshi Tanwar, an actor, tells the story of Mai. In the show, she has a motherly role. There is nothing a mother cannot accomplish in the Hindi film industry, and Sakshi’s role exemplifies this. She is a distraught mother who is looking for explanations for her daughter’s death. The series depicts a mother’s needy, imperfect side, which Sakshi portrays to perfection. She tells the story and is the protagonist. The debut of Mai was lauded. “Mai does a difficult feat: it persuades you to suspend a great deal of disbelief because you are drawn into its universe and care about its people. Shubhra Gupta, a critic for The Indian Express, wrote, “Every time you think, how is that even conceivable (and this happens often), you are tugged back into the narrative, which loves its every filthy, grimy, ultra-violent beat.

Modern Mumbai Love

Love is genderless. It doesn’t consider anything, including caste, age, or sex. Through a variety of stories set in the city of dreams that is Mumbai, Modern Love Mumbai expresses precisely that. Modern Love Mumbai makes your heart feel full, whether it’s discovering the strength of self-love and independence in Raat Rani or demonstrating that love or attraction has no age restrictions in I Love Thane and My Beautiful Wrinkles. But not all of the stories are perfect. For instance, Pratik Gandhi and Ranveer Brar’s intimate scene should have been improved. Overall though, it’s one of the must-watch movies of the year.

Shefali Shah and Kirti Kulhari’s Disney+Hotstar series depicts the sinister side of the honourable profession. The idea of drug testing on humans and how they can wreck lives is the series’ central theme. Everything about this series is exceptional, including the writing and Shefali and Kirti’s performances. Watch out for Vishal Jethwa and Riddhi Kumar.

Even though we have already listed the finest shows of the year thus far, we would like to give a shout-out to a few series in this “special mention” section:

Puraan Pet

If you enjoyed Gullak 3 and enjoy animals, the Pet Puraan series is for you. Lalit Prabhakar and Sai Tamhankar play a married couple in the show who are under pressure to start a family now that their marriage has lasted five years. They decide to buy a pet to ease themselves into the realm of responsibility because they are not yet ready to become parents. The problem is that Sai’s Aditi wants a cat and Lalit’s Atul wants a dog. They unintentionally come to own both. Their travels and difficulties are covered in the series. We suggest you give this one a try because it is one of the nicest series that promotes the idea of coexistence.

Shanti’s house

Home Shanti centres around a four-person middle-class family, like like Gullak. But in this one, middle-class actors Supriya Pathak and Manoj Pahwa’s characters take us on a voyage full of difficulties and emotions as they construct their dream home. This sitcom is a hit thanks to Manoj Pahwa’s comedy timing and Supriya’s ideal motherly persona. You may watch it on Disney+Hotstar.

Game of Fame

The Dhak Dhak girl is portrayed in a role that is familiar to her but unfamiliar to her admirers in Madhuri Dixit’s web debut, The Fame Game. It allows us access to a celebrity’s world. You should definitely keep an eye out for Madhuri and Manav Kaul’s chemistry in this one.
