According to Ali Asgar, he started turning down such work after his son Nuyaan Asgar questioned whether he knew anything besides dressed as a lady. On the family-themed episode of the popular reality series Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, Ali discussed it. On the programme, his daughter and son made cameo appearances.

The Kapil Sharma Show participant Ali made the suggestion that possibly this was what made him leave the programme. The audience loved Ali’s characters, “Nani” on the show and “Dadi” on Comedy Nights With Kapil Sharma.

According to a News18 story, Ali stated, “One day, on a Saturday, when we were eating, we spotted an advertising that stated, “Ali and (another actor) are working together. The other actor will play a police officer, and Ali will be seen as “Bahu.” “Aapko aur kuch aata nahi hai (Don’t you know anything else at all),” my son merely asked me.

The comic said, “I questioned ‘Why? What happened?’ And he added, “Everyone at school teases me.” He (Nuyaan) walked out after I disregarded it and continued acting like a woman in Sunday’s programme. That is when I realised I might not want to do it. Since then, I have consistently declined jobs. I was unable to get employment for nine months since I could only find this work.

A programme trailer also featured Ali sobbing as his children—son Nuyaan Asgar and daughter Ada Asgar—sent him a heartfelt video greeting.

“Our school buddies used to ridicule us, telling us that you have two mothers,” Ada remarked in the video. They would ink Basanti, dadi ka beta (Dadi’s son), dadi ki beti (Dadi’s daughter), and other phrases on their bodies. To make people laugh, he used to poke fun of himself. Not everyone will enjoy that. Dad, we adore you. As he watched the footage, Ali was seen sobbing.
