After a letter with a phoney Home Minister’s letterhead surfaced, a FIR was filed

The Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) has filed a FIR in connection with a letter written on the fake letterhead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, in which Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was instructed to “critically evaluate the emerging threat to former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma’s family house in Dehradun and provide her Z-security.”

The FIR was filed against unidentified persons under sections 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating), 469 (forgery for the purpose of harming reputation), 505 (1) (whoever makes, publishes, or circulates any statement, rumour, or report) of the IPC, and sections 66C of the Information Technology Act, according to SSP Ajai Singh of the force. The FIR was filed at the cyber police station in Dehradun.

The letter praises Dhami for his efforts to maintain law and order in the state and mentions Nupur Sharma as an idol who promotes the ideology of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

“Chief Minister Dhami has issued directives to take strong action against the individual guilty for the bogus letter,” said Chief Minister’s Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi in a statement.
